2015 marked the company’s third successive year of profitability with operating profits of £23.5M from revenues of £450.6M. In 2016 the brand celebrated the manufacture of 10,000th car and sold unprecedented 3,286 cars – a record 99.3 per cent improvement in sales performance, from 1,654 cars sold in 2015.
Looking forwards, Mike has recently led the Management team and Board of Directors to the approval of Track22, the business plan that looks to the next six years of growth. This will see the company double its turnover (based on 2014) whilst always remaining profitable, and more than doubling its sales volumes thanks, in part, to the introduction of 15 all-new cars or derivatives.
Prior to joining McLaren Automotive, Mike was Vice President, Manufacturing, Ford of Europe, and Corporate Officer, Ford Motor Company. Before joining Ford, he held senior manufacturing and operations roles at TWR Group Limited, AutoNova AB and Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Cars Limited. He qualified in Manufacturing and Mechanical Engineering in 1987 and completed a post-graduate qualification in Management and Project Management at Salford University in 1996.
Dr. Jens Ludmann - Chief Operating Officer
Dr. Ludmann joined McLaren Automotive in May 2017 as Chief Operating Officer.
His focus is on delivering the Track 22 business plan, which consist of 15 new product launches and a fully utilised manufacturing facility. In his role, he integrates all technical related departments of the business being product development, manufacturing, purchasing and supplier quality assurance.
Prior to joining McLaren Automotive, he held various positions in the automotive, and supplier industry with over 20 years of experience. Key positions included Chief Engineer Product Development at Ford Motor Company, Chief Technical Officer at Qoros Automotive Ltd., and most recently Executive Vice President of the global engineering service provider FEV Europe GmbH.
Jolyon Nash - Executive Director – Global Sales and Marketing
Jolyon joined McLaren in July 2014 and in his role reports directly to McLaren Automotive CEO, Mike Flewitt.
For the past five years, Jolyon has been Director, Sales & Marketing for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and has also held senior Sales and Marketing roles at BMW and the Volkswagen Group, as well as one of the largest vehicle importers in South Africa.
Jolyon studied in London and the University of Michigan. In his spare time, he enjoys trail running, driving and classic cars.
Paul Buddin - Chief Financial Officer
Paul Buddin joined McLaren Automotive as Financial Controller in June 2010, quickly becoming Director of Finance and then Chief Financial Officer in January 2016. He was made Acting Chief Financial Officer for McLaren Group in 2018 alongside his Automotive role. Since joining the company he has been a key part of driving its growth by working across the business (including Product Development, Manufacturing and Sales and Marketing) to deliver the ambitious growth plans. While with the company, Paul has been part of the senior team that has seen revenues increase from zero to £650M in 2017 and delivered four successive years of profitability since the company was launched.
Just before becoming Chief Financial Officer Paul’s role was to lead business strategy and he was the key author of the Track 22 business plan, the business plan that looks to the next six years of growth. This will see the company double its turnover (based on 2014) whilst always remaining profitable, and more than doubling its sales volumes thanks, in part, to the introduction of 15 all-new cars or derivatives.
Prior to joining McLaren Automotive, Paul had several roles within the accounting and advisory practice at KPMG. In these roles, he worked with a number of clients across a variety of industries. Paul also holds a Masters Degree in Physics from the University of Bath and spent time at CERN in Geneva working on the Large Hadron Collider.
Ruth Nic Aoidh - Executive Director, Commercial and Legal
Ruth joined McLaren Group in January 2009 as Legal Adviser, becoming Executive Director – Commercial & Legal at McLaren Automotive in January 2014. She was appointed Company Secretary in January 2016.
Ruth’s current position at McLaren encompasses all commercial and legal facets of the business. She plays a pivotal role in strategic and commercial affairs across McLaren Automotive overseeing all external engagements as well as developing and managing some of the key relationships with suppliers, retailers, regulatory authorities and strategic partners. Furthermore, she is responsible for managing all corporate governance and legal aspects of McLaren Automotive and its subsidiaries around the world.
Ruth is a member of the Executive Board, shaping and influencing key management decisions and future strategy of McLaren Automotive. She also sits on the Board of Directors acting as Company Secretary.
Prior to McLaren, Ruth worked in the Corporate departments of Baker & McKenzie in London and Matheson in Dublin. She graduated from University College Dublin with a Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws, and holds other post-graduate and professional qualifications from De Montfort University, The Law Society of Ireland and The Law Society of England & Wales.
Rob Melville - Design Director
Rob joined McLaren Automotive in 2009 as Senior Designer rising to Chief Designer in 2014 before becoming Design Director in 2017.
During his time at McLaren, Rob has worked on the McLaren P1™, the evolution of the 12C into the 650S, the 675LT, and was responsible for the Sports Series which won the ‘Best of the Best’ category in the coveted Red Dot design awards in 2016.
Most recently he led the design of the 720S, the first model in the second-generation Super Series.
As Design Director, Rob is now responsible for developing the company’s design strategy, philosophy and principles working with the engineering and manufacturing functions, as well as the customer insights team on the new models and derivatives promised under the Track22 business plan.
